Taxpayers’ challenges with financial transactions

A panel of advisers, taxpayers and government officials, at International Tax Review’s 11th Global Transfer Pricing Forum last week, discussed the challenges involved in dealing with financial transactions.
The panel was asked whether complexity is still an issue. Thomas Hürlimann, group tax manager for Nystar (a commodities trading firm) in Switzerland, said applying the arms-length price to interest and debt is very complex.
