When Jeffrey Owens, director of the OECD’s Centre for Tax Policy and Administration (CTPA), announced he would leave his post in January 2012, the tax profession around the world started to speculate about who his successor would be.
"The successful candidate will possess in-depth knowledge and understanding of tax, public finance and economic issues and an ability to engage at a high level on complex domestic and international tax policy matters. A broad understanding of the business environment and the economic frameworks and institutions across a range of OECD and non-member economies is essential," the job advertisement said.
