East African Community aims for elimination of double tax

Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwandi and Burundi seek year end implementation
The five member states of the East African Community (EAC) want to eliminate double taxation on transactions between its partner countries by the end of 2008. A draft agreement is ready and will be discussed at the next meeting of the East African Legislative Assembly in Tanzania. Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are in agreement with the proposal but there remain difficulties with Rwanda and Burundi.
